Ingredients
- 300 g of “000” Wheat Flour (strength or all-purpose)
- 50 ml of water
- 50 gr of Sugar
- 2 eggs (100 gr)
- 5 g of dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon of Orange Blossom Water
- 50 gr of Butter or Butter
- 100 gr of Glazed Fruit
- 50 g of raisins
- 50 g of Nuts (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, cashews)
- Glazed Cherries (to taste)
- 70 g of additional nuts to cover the sweet bread
- Impalpable or icing sugar (to taste)
For the Syrup:
- 50 ml of water
- 50 gr of Sugar
- 1 tablespoon of rum
- Orange peel (to taste)
Preparation
- Dissolve the yeast in 50 ml of warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let it sit until it becomes foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, eggs, activated yeast, Orange Blossom Water and melted butter. Knead until you obtain a homogeneous and elastic dough.
- Add the glazed fruit, raisins and nuts to the dough. Knead until evenly distributed.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place until it doubles in size.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts and form two long loaves. Place them in sweet bread molds. Cover the top with additional nuts.
- Bake at 180°C for approximately 30-40 minutes, or until golden.
- In a saucepan, heat the water, sugar, rum and orange peel until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool.
- Once the breads are ready, paint them with the syrup to give them shine. Sprinkle with powdered or icing sugar before serving.
