Ingredients
70 g butter
2 eggs
120 g cream
350 g flour
50 g sugar
1 ½ tsp baking powder
1 pinch(s) of salt
1 tbsp lemon juice or vodka
350 g fat, for deep-frying
120 g powdered sugar
1 pack of vanilla sugar
preparation
1. First, sift the flour onto the table and make a depression in it. Then add the sugar, cream, butter, eggs, a little salt, baking powder and lemon juice.
2. Now mix everything and knead into a smooth dough. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour. The dough should be similar to pasta dough. Let the dough rest covered for 1 hour (it works without it, but it’s better to let it rest)
3 Now roll out thinly and use a knife or wheel to cut strips 3 cm wide and 10-15 cm long. Cut each strip in the middle lengthwise 4 to 5 cm and pull one end through the hole.
4. Next, heat the fat and fry the faworki/pastries on both sides until golden. Drain on kitchen towel. While still warm, dust thickly with powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar.
Makes approx. 50 to 60 pieces of pastry.
