Strawberry Sorbet Without Ice Cream Maker

Ingredients:

  • 500 g of fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 180 g of granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 20 cl of water

Preparation:

  1. Preparing the strawberries:  Start by gently rinsing the strawberries under cold water to clean them. Remove stems and cut into pieces if necessary. If you are using frozen strawberries, let them thaw slightly before using.
  2. Cooking the strawberries:  In a saucepan, pour the cut strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice and water. Stir well to combine the ingredients.
  3. Cooking and reduction:  Place the pan over medium heat and bring the mixture to the boil. Then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries are well cooked and the liquid is slightly reduced.
  4. Blending the strawberries:  Remove the pan from the heat and let the strawberry mixture cool slightly. Next, pour it into a blender or food processor and blend until you get a smooth puree.
  5. Preparation of the sorbet:  Pour the strawberry puree into a container suitable for freezing. Cover the container with an airtight lid or cling film to prevent ice crystals from forming.
  6. Freezing and mixing:  Place the container in the freezer for about 2 hours. After this time, remove the container from the freezer and stir the strawberry puree vigorously with a spatula or whisk to break up the ice crystals and obtain a smooth, creamy consistency.
  7. Final freeze:  Return the container to the freezer and let the sorbet solidify for another 2 hours, or until firm.
  8. Serving:  When the sorbet is ready, remove it from the freezer and let it rest at room temperature for a few minutes so that it is easier to serve. Enjoy this delicious homemade strawberry sorbet alone or accompanied by fresh fruit for an extra touch of freshness. Enjoy your meal!
