Cold tuna and prawn cake. Quick and easy recipe: presentation

I have already talked about cold cakes made with sliced bread before. The truth is that they are delicious and very easy to prepare, allowing a number of fillings only limited by the chef’s imagination. Children love them because they are like a game or a birthday snack. For adults, they unconsciously lead us to think about canapés at a party or a Christmas meal.

In short, these cold cakes are a success in advance and allow a lot of fillings: fish, cold cuts, meat, pickles… With a little mayonnaise, tartar sauce, rose, fresh cheese, tomato sauce… See? The list is almost endless. The only thing you have to find is the right occasion to prepare it and enjoy it with your family or friends. It doesn’t have to be a party, a birthday, or anything special, just that you feel like preparing it.

For today’s recipe I have decided to make a Cold Tuna and Prawn Cake. I will use canned tuna, preferably in oil or natural, so as not to give too much flavor to the filling. As a complement I am going to use some surimi bars and some cooked prawns that will also serve to give it a decorative touch. You can see that it is a super easy recipe and that everyone is going to love it, so don’t hesitate to make it, because it is a sure success.

How to make Cold Tuna and Prawn Cake. Quick and easy recipe

1.- Put the surimi bars in the chopper so that they are finely chopped. If you do not have a chopper or the attachment for a blender, chop the surimi with a knife as fine as you can.

2.- Mix the chopped surimi in a bowl along with the crumbled tuna, the cut olives, the grated boiled eggs and the mayonnaise.

3.- In a mold lined with kitchen film, alternate layers of bread and layers of filling. The first layer must be bread, since then it will be our lid.

4.- Spread the filling well between layer and layer of bread.

5.- In total there are 3 layers of filling and 4 of bread. Finish with a layer of bread. Cover with the edges of the kitchen film and set aside in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

6. Before serving, decorate by spreading the cake with mayonnaise.

7.- Place some prawns, salmon eggs and some green leaves. I have used lemon thyme.

My tips for preparing this Cold Tuna and Prawn Cake:

– Do not paint it with mayonnaise until it is time to decorate and serve, because, especially if it is homemade, it tends to dry out and darken slightly, which would spoil the presentation. You can also use industrial mayonnaise or a pink sauce.

– It is important that you put plastic wrap in the mold to be able to unmold your cake well.

– The sliced bread that we used already came without a crust, but you can also use normal sliced bread and remove it yourself.
