Sgroppino , or sgropin , is a lemon drink of Venetian origin, traditionally served at a festive lunch to “cleanse the palate” between one course and another, or as a refreshing digestive at the end of the meal : the name derives , in fact, from the word scroppare which, in the local dialect, actually means to digest.
It is an alcoholic drink based on lemon sorbet , prosecco and frozen vodka , originally prepared with sorbet alone and without the addition of alcohol, very easy to make: just mix the three ingredients in a jug, pour the sgroppino inside of a champagne flute and then garnish it on the surface, for a spectacular and effective presentation, with a slice of lemon and a sprig of fresh mint.
If you wish, you can also make the drink using lemon ice cream , to make at home or buy ready-made, or you can try your hand at many variations on the theme and create the most varied flavours: orange and mandarin, strawberry and sparkling wine, cold cream with watermelon and gin , mint and milk sorbet…
To avoid unpleasant surprises, we suggest consuming the sgroppino immediately : resting would in fact risk causing the sorbet to separate from the alcoholic component, inevitably compromising the final outcome.
