Homemade Churros: the simple recipe for a popular dessert

Ingredients:
250ml of water
80 g of butter
1 pinch of salt
200 g of 00 flour
Fry oil
Granulated sugar to taste
Cinnamon powder to taste (optional)

In a pan, bring the water to the boil with the butter and a pinch of salt.
As soon as the butter has melted completely and the water has reached the boil, remove the pan from the heat.
Add the sifted flour at once and mix vigorously with a wooden spoon until you obtain a smooth mixture that comes away from the sides of the pan.
Churros shaping:
Transfer the dough into a piping bag with a star nozzle (diameter approximately 1-1.5 cm).
Heat plenty of oil in a large pan with high sides.
Frying churros:
Press the dough directly into the hot oil, forming long sticks of about 10-15 cm.
Fry the churros until golden brown and crispy on all sides. Use a slotted spoon to gently turn them during cooking.
Drain them on absorbent paper to eliminate excess oil.
Finish:
Mix some granulated sugar with a little ground cinnamon (if desired) in a shallow dish.
Dip the hot churros in the sugar and cinnamon mix, rolling them gently until they are completely covered.
Your homemade churros are ready to enjoy! Serve them still hot for an optimal result. You can also accompany the churros with a chocolate or custard sauce if you prefer. Enjoy your meal!
