Poronczso – Hungarian roulade with rich poppy filling – Simple and delicious

The recipe is taken from the magazine “Today’s Kitchen” and is one of Larisa’s favorites…

Ingredients needed

Ingredients for the dough:

1 packet of margarine
1 cube of yeast
1 egg
200 ml of milk
4 spoons of sugar
the peel and juice of a lemon
550 g of flour
Ingredients for the filling:

300 g of sugar
150 ml of water
rum essence
2 sachets of vanilla sugar
300 g poppy
1 egg for greasing
How is it prepared?

  1. Mix all the ingredients for the dough, knead a soft dough and let it rest for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  2. For the filling, grind the poppy seeds. Water and sugar are boiled to obtain the syrup. Add ground poppy seeds, rum essence and vanilla sugar. Boil for about 5 minutes, until it starts to thicken, then cool.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 parts, as well as the filling. Put flour on the table, spread the thin sheet, spread the filling on its entire surface and roll it out…
  4. Place it in the tray lined with oil and flour. The same is done with the other sheets. Form 4 rolls and place in the tray. Brush the top with a whole egg as follows: brush the entire surface once, then refrigerate for 10 minutes. The operation is repeated 3 times.
  1. Put it in the oven for 45 minutes, at the right heat.

P.S.: If the filling is too thick after cooling, add a little more milk…

Enjoy with love! Good appetite!
