In this recipe, we will teach you how to prepare a cheese bread that evokes Greek flavors and tradition.
Although we may not have access to the same ingredients found in Greece, we will use alternatives available in our pantry to achieve a cheese bread with a Mediterranean touch.

This bread is perfect to accompany your meals or enjoy as an appetizer. Let’s start cooking!
Ingredients
For the mass:
- 1 sachet of dry yeast
- 5 tablespoons olive oil
- 250g feta cheese
- 550g flour
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the filling:
- 120 g Kasseri cheese (or provolone cheese)
- a little oregano
Preparation
Total time: approximately 2 hours (including standby time)
- Let’s start with the dough. In a large bowl, combine dry yeast, sugar, salt and flour. Then, add the water and olive oil. Mix all these ingredients until you get a sticky dough.
- Cover the bowl with a clean, damp cloth and let the dough rest in a warm place until it doubles in size, which will take about an hour.
- While the dough is resting, preheat your oven to 200°C and coat a baking sheet with olive oil.
- Once the dough has doubled in size, crumble it into pieces and add 2/3 of the crumbled feta cheese. Knead the dough with the cheese to distribute it evenly.
- Place the dough on the prepared baking sheet and flatten it. Then, sprinkle the remaining Kasseri (or provolone) cheese on top and add a touch of oregano.
- Bake the cheese bread in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until golden and crispy.
- “Greek” cheese bread is best enjoyed when warm.
And that’s it! Now you have a delicious cheese bread with a Mediterranean touch. This bread is perfect to accompany your main dishes or as a delicious appetizer. Enjoy!
