Poronczso – Hungarian roll with rich poppy filling – simple and delicious

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 1 pack of margarine
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 200 ml milk
  • 4 spoons of sugar
  • lemon zest and juice
  • 550 g of flour

Ingredients for the filling:

  • 300 g of sugar
  • 150 ml of water
  • rum essence
  • 2 bags of vanilla sugar
  • 300 g of poppy
  • 1 egg for greasing

How is it prepared?

1. Mix all the ingredients for the dough, knead the soft dough and let it rest for 30 minutes in a warm place.

2. For the filling, chop the poppy seeds. Boil water and sugar to make syrup. Add ground poppy seeds, rum essence and vanilla sugar. Cook for about 5 minutes until it begins to thicken, then cool.

3. Divide the dough into 4 parts, like the filling. Pour flour on the table, spread a thin sheet, spread the filling over its entire surface and roll out…

4. Place it on a baking sheet lined with butter and flour. We do the same with other letters. Form 4 rolls and place on a baking sheet. Brush the top with a whole egg as follows: Brush the entire surface once, then refrigerate for 10 minutes. The operation is repeated 3 times.

5. Put in the oven for 45 minutes, with proper heating.

PS: If the filling is too thick after cooling, add a little more milk…
