Cottage Pie: The rich, creamy recipe you’ll love

Ingredients:

For the meat filling:

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons of flour
  • Salt and Pepper To Taste
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 2/3 cup peas
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

For the must:

  • 700 g of potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese
  • Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F. Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters and boil them over medium heat until soft.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the pie filling by heating a little olive oil over medium heat and using it to sauté the chopped onions and carrots for about 5 minutes.
  • Season with salt, pepper, dried herbs and add garlic. Add the ground beef and cook for 10 minutes, until no longer pink.
  • Mix meat and vegetables with tomato paste, peas, flour and pour in the broth. Leave the sauce on medium heat until it becomes thick and creamy.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the seasoning. Blend the cooked potatoes with cream, butter, salt and pepper. Stir in the grated cheese.
  • Place the beef gravy on a baking tray and cover with the mashed potatoes.
  • Distribute the seasoning evenly. Cook for 20-25 minutes. Serve hot.
  • Notes: This recipe can also be made with ground turkey or ground chicken.
