350 g flour
50 g sugar
1 ½ tsp baking powder
70 g butter
2 eggs
120 g cream
1 pinch of salt
1 tbsp lemon juice or vodka
350 g fat, for frying
120 g powdered sugar
1 packet of vanilla sugar
Preparation

  1. THIS is how it works, first sift the flour onto the table and make a well in it. Then add the sugar, cream, butter, eggs, a little salt, baking powder and lemon juice.
  2. Now mix everything together and knead into a smooth dough, if it is too sticky, add a little more flour. The dough should be similar to pasta dough.
Let the dough rest covered for 1 hour (it can also be left to rest without, but it is better to let it rest)
3 Now roll out thinly and use a knife or wheel to cut 3 cm wide and 10-15 cm long strips.
Slit each strip lengthways 4 to 5 cm in the middle and pull one end through the hole.
  3. Next, heat the fat and fry the faworki/pastries on both sides until golden brown. Drain on a kitchen towel.
While still warm, dust thickly with powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar.
Makes about 50 to 60 pastries.
